Genealogical Research In The South (GRITS) is a genealogy research firm that provides accurate, ethical and professional research and documentation of southern family lineages. We strive to honor and preserve the memory of southeastern and Lowcountry families.
The founder of GRITS, Cynthia Horn, is a graduate of the Boston University Genealogical Research program and a member of the National Genealogical Society, the Association of Professional Genealogist, the New England Historic Genealogical Society, the Georgia Genealogical Society and the South Carolina Genealogical Society.
Cynthia was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina where she developed a love for Southern history, culture and genealogy. Presently she lives in Atlanta, Georgia where she has access to some of the largest genealogical repositories in the Southeast including the National Archives’ Southeastern division.
The challenges of southern genealogy are significant considering the number of times that government offices, churches and other repositories have burned or been impacted by natural disasters. You may have experienced these challenges and need assistance moving your research forward. If so please contact us. It would be our pleasure to assist you.
